Is Palworld Coming to PlayStation, Switch & Xbox?
If you’re excited for the game that mixes Pokemon with Fortnite, then you may want to knowwhether Palworld is coming to PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox. This indie sensation from Japanese developer Pocketpair is launching on Steam now. If you’re a console gamer hoping to try out the wacky title, you may want some clarity on what platforms it’s coming to.
Is Palworld Coming to PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox?
As it stands, Palworld is currently slated to release on Xbox, but not PlayStationor Nintendo Switch. That means those on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S can play the game. Gamers on PS4 and PS5 cannot.
This was confirmed in an FAQ post on thegame’s Steam page. When asked about Xbox, this is what the devs had to say:
Palworld is on the Xbox Game Pass and the Xbox Game Pass for PC!
This was the response in regards to PlayStation:
We don’t have plans for this at the moment, but will consider it during development!
It likely all depends on how successful Palworld is when it first hits PC early access on Steam. If early access goes well and the game attracts a huge audience, it would be a no-brainer for a PlayStation and Nintendo Switch ports to follow, to maximize the player base.
That said, it would likely still be many months off – perhaps even up to a year. However, given an Xbox build is already in a state close to release, that could make the wait shorter, if it’s a simple case of crossing over to PlayStation and the handheld console.
Porting a game to a new console is no easy feat, especially when taking into account feedback gleaned from the early access period. That could go on for months, tweaking the PC version – long before work on a console version even begins. That said, since we already know an Xbox version is on the cards, it seems the devs have already made significant progress. A PS5 version may be quite far off into the future, though. If you’re truly desperate to playPalworld, you’ll need to check it out on your PC or Xbox instead.
Fortunately, most games that really blow up in early access tend to eventually come to consoles. Think hits like Gang Beasts, Deep Rock Galactic, and even Minecraft: they all started in early access on PC before arriving on other systems. If Palworld goes down this route, you’ll be able to play it on PlayStation – one day!
